Keim Hall (Renovation)

Keim Hall, located on the East Campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was built in 1950. Prior to the renovation, there were heating and cooling problems and some laboratories were no longer suitable for the equipment scientists needed to conduct research and teach students. The 49,800 SF renovation project included a complete replacement of all the electrical and mechanical systems and new exterior windows.

The interior of the building was completely reconfigured with new laboratories, classrooms, meeting rooms and office space. Usable space was added to the building by moving the center corridor that originally ran through the building's wings to an outer wall. The heating and cooling equipment was also moved to a penthouse in the roof. The building received a new exterior facade on the south wall of the interior courtyard. The north wall of the building was opened up and a new walkway and three-story curtain wall were installed to give full views to the courtyard.
