Farmers Mutual Insurance

The Farmer’s Mutual Insurance facility is a multi-level structure with a 55,000 SF parking garage below grade and 64,200 SF on the ground level and a second floor designed for offices. Construction of the building included concrete foundations, metal stud load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls, brick masonry construction, wood trusses, structural steel tubes and columns, metal fabrications, asphalt shingles, gypsum drywall and raised access flooring.

There were many unique features to this project including a green roof with an irrigation system; a fourth floor entertainment area with a glass accordion door and outdoor patio leading to the roof; an enclosed patio area off the cafeteria with eight underground canopies and water feature; an underground parking garage with radiant heat on the ramp to melt ice; a custom metal light fixture in the boardroom; motorized black-out shades; a lighting control system throughout the entire building; and a curved all-glass staircase with metal decorative inserts and wooden handrail.
