Duane W. Acklie Hall of Science

This three-story, 83,700 SF science facility houses the biology, chemistry, psychology, and anatomy and physiology programs at Nebraska Wesleyan University. The hall is the university's first new academic building in 36 years. The building contains six classrooms, offices and laboratory space for animal research, cell gen, sea phages, ecology, botany, bio, organic chemistry and a 1,000 SF greenhouse. All fifteen labs are student centered as they contain maneuverable lab hoods, vacuum tubes and drawers for students' own equipment.

Situated on the north end of each floor are faculty offices and student spaces with scenic views of the new campus quad are tucked away throughout the building. Students can also find a small coffee shop located on the second floor. Running top to bottom through the heart of the building is a wooden sculpture crafted from nearly two dozen of the ash and oak trees cleared during construction. Other features include interior windows in the corridors that allow those passing by to watch science happening in real time.
