Chadron State College Rangeland Center & Lab
The Rangeland Center and Laboratories at Chadron State College underwent an expansion project to increase its size and position the buildings as a windbreak in the windy western Nebraska town. The total size of the facility is now 32,500 SF and it sits on 40 acres of rolling prairies outside Chadron, Nebraska. The complex utilizes sustainable energy practices such as geothermal, solar, and wind power.
The first building houses an animal science laboratory, a plant and soil science lab, an herbarium teaching collection, classrooms, and supporting faculty work areas. The second building, adjacent to the traditional education spaces, is the Rangeland Center, which offers rough stock pens, horse boarding pens, bucking chutes, roping boxes, and a 120’x240’ arena floor. This performing space has seating for 185 spectators and is used as the home-base for Chadron State’s Rodeo Club.
