York General Hospital

The York General Hospital Addition and Renovation project was a multiphase project that spanned over the course of three years. The project included renovations to the pharmacy, specialty clinic, and labs. It also included the addition of a new ER, patient wing, and dietary facilities.

The York General Hospital Project consisted of 33,800 SF of new construction and 26,820 SF of renovations to the existing hospital. The entire project was broken down into a multiphase project, which allowed the owner to adjust the construction direction. The project included the construction of an ER shell and two patient wings that were constructed in sequence to allow the hospital to continue the minimum bed count needed for operation. The ER and patient wings increased in size and will allow for better spatial arrangements with updated finishes and more natural light in each room. Planning ahead and scheduling with the hospital staff was critical to the success of this project by minimizing disruptions in hospital operations and reducing the impact on patients.
