Kearney Regional Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Facility

A new facility was required at the Kearney Regional Airport due to being upgraded to a Class II from a Class III airport. This enables the airport to receive unscheduled large air carrier aircraft (30+seats) and scheduled small air carrier aircraft (10-30 seats).

The airport will be able to handle the arrival of large unscheduled aircraft and ready to handle any emergencies such a landing might require. The new 8,100 SF facility, also known as Station Three, is a one-story building with three vehicle storage bays, a kitchen, control and communications room, mechanical and electrical communication rooms, and storage for aqueous film-forming foam. Since the station will have a fire engineered stationed at the airport 24 hours a day there is also a TV/lounge area, sleeping area, restrooms and shower, and lockers. The facility is a pre-engineered building with CMU and metal stud walls.
