Fremont Health Medical Center

Fremont Area Medical Center made the decision to transform the way they provide healthcare through the “Building a Healthy Future” project. The project included a two-phased hospital patient tower expansion and three-phased licensed skilled care facility, Dunklau Gardens.

The patient tower expansion improves and enhances the facility, adding smart room technologies, and delivering healthcare close to home. The tower project totaled 109,090 SF – 52,730 SF of which was a new six level south addition, and 56,360 SF consisted of renovations to the existing building. The expansion yielded a new outpatient clinic with one Fluoroscopy room, ten outpatient rooms, two surgical rooms, a C-section room, six LDRP rooms, a nursery, new main entrance, eight intensive care rooms and behavioral health services. All construction activities took place on an occupied campus.

Dunklau Gardens was built in three phases and has three wings – Cottonwood, Meadowlark and Goldenrod. Construction at the facility resulted in the addition of 42,710 SF, renovation of 15,490 SF and two centralized healing gardens. In addition to 58 private and 22 semi-private rooms, Dunklau Gardens includes a skilled rehabilitation program, two sleep lab rooms, several dining and recreation areas, an outdoor activity courtyard, four hospice suites and a chapel.
