Educare Winnebago

Educare Early Childhood Center is a research-based program supported by the Buffett Early Childhood Fund which prepares at-risk children for school. Educare Winnebago brings high-quality early childhood programming to the Winnebago Reservation in northeast Nebraska. This is the fourth Educare facility in Nebraska and the first Educare School to serve a Native American Indian Reservation. Educare Winnebago is the result of a local partnership led by Winnebago Public Schools and the Winnebago Tribal Council.

The Educare Early Childhood Center in Winnebago is 32,000 SF and is uniquely shaped with two wings shaped as wedges. The school’s curriculum will combine Educare’s best practices with local culture, traditions, and teaching children in the native Ho-Chunk language as well as English. In addition to serving as a child care facility for 0-5 year olds, the facility features a cultural resource room which houses events, community college classes and after-school tutoring programs for K-3rd grade students from Winnebago Public Schools. The community room also serves as the storm shelter and training room.
