Educare Early Childhood Center and Belmont Link

Educare in Lincoln is a state-of-the-art childhood development center for at-risk children. The Buffett Foundation, Lincoln Public Schools, University of Nebraska, and the Community Action Network are partners and supporters of this facility. Educare of Lincoln will join 13 other Educare centers across United States. The purpose of these facilities is to bring additional resources to under privileged areas.

The 32,000 SF facility is attached to Belmont Elementary by “the Link,” a walk through corridor that will connect the two buildings. The research based childhood development center facility will have a capacity for 192 at-risk children in the age range of birth to 5 years old. The Univeristy of Nebraska will develop the programs and provide ongoing analysis on an annual basis. They will also collect research and evaluations as an integral part of the center. This center is designed for low student-teach ratios and many of the teachers will be highly trained. The child care center project includes 16 classrooms, four child observation rooms, four specialized observation rooms, kitchen, fenced-in preschool playground that surrounds ¾ of the center, as well as, a separate playground for the school age children that attend Belmont Elementary.
