University of Nebraska employees, architects, and Sampson Construction employees gathered at East Stadium on a Thursday in June 2013 to bury time capsules near Gate 20, the original welcome mat for Husker fans when Memorial Stadium opened in 1923. The capsules were filled with Big Red memorabilia and will be opened in 2062 when Nebraska hopes to celebrate 100 years of consecutive sellouts.
