Celebrating National Women In Construction Week
This week, we celebrate all women in construction as a vital component of the construction industry. Meet Nancy Balentine, 1 of the 28 women employed at Sampson Construction and a laborer currently working on the Bryan Health East Campus project. We asked Nancy a few questions to get to know her and her favorite things about construction.
What is your most memorable moment working in construction?
“Working in Lazlo’s downtown. We had to take off the entire roof while the restaurant stayed open for business. Sampson needed another truck driver to haul away debris, so I drove the truck. It was really cold and one of the guys let me wear their overalls, but I had to roll up the cuffs. It was a fun project to see.” Memorial Stadium and Scheels were a couple of Nancy’s other memorable projects.
What advice would you give to other women in the industry?
“Do the best job you can, be open minded, willing to learn and always do the right thing.”
What is your favorite tool?
“The forklift and grinder.”
