Belmont Community Center Ballfield Refresh
Recently, Sampson Construction and April’s Kids partnered to update the Belmont Community Center ballfield. The Belmont Community Center has been a part of the north Lincoln community since 1937 and is a place the neighborhood depends on for quality youth programs and community facility use.
April’s Kids generously donated the materials and equipment necessary to upgrade the field while our team donated the work to make it happen. We leveled the field to allow for drainage, playability, safety and an overall pleasant appearance. Nearly 50 tons of Agrilime was spread to help water absorb and the field dry more quickly.
Thanks to April’s Kids, the Belmont Community Center ballfield now has access to a motorized infield groomer, tools to easily chalk the field, rakes, shovels, throwdown rubber bases and ultimate safety bases that are designed to flex and absorb energy. We would also like to thank Outback Fence as they donated the materials and time to install a completely new backstop. To ensure the longevity of the field, our team provided guidance and documents for proper maintenance and use.
“We at the BCC are amazed by the renovations and maintenance partnership created with Sampson Construction and April's Kids. Our field certainly needed some TLC and being a small staff here, taking care of a 66-year-old facility and grounds is a lot of work. This update to our ballfield will give young North Lincoln athletes a quality practice space in our neighborhood as well as open the door to youth who generally do not have access to the sport.” says Emily Koopmann, Executive Director of the Belmont Community Center.
We are thrilled to have been a part in making this old ballfield new again and last for generations to come.
