Weeping Water Public School

Voters passed a $12 million bond for upgrades to the aging Weeping Water Public School.

The project brought all students under one roof, thereby eliminating the need for five portable classrooms. A 75,000 SF renovation to the existing building incorporated new energy-efficient HVAC and a new fire sprinkler system.

Three additions totaling 56,000 SF included an elementary addition, administrative addition and Wellness Center addition. The elementary addition resulted in eight classrooms, handicap accessible restrooms and a handicap entrance to a fenced playground. The administrative addition included a new Media and Digital Learning Center, administrative and nurse offices, and a new secured main entrance. The largest addition spans three levels and provides two major entrances as well as an elevator with access to each level. The 42,500 SF Wellness Center addition yielded science and Family Consumer Science classrooms, handicapped accessible locker rooms, a wrestling room, as well as a competition gymnasium with premier basketball courts and an upper level walking/jogging track. A new weight room and fitness center is available for use by community members outside of school hours.

The exterior walls of the building are brick and EIFS with cmu block or metal stud back-up and the interior walls are block or drywall. Improvements were also made to school security, traffic flow for student drop-off and pick-up, and parking.
