Seward Memorial Library Lower Level Renovation

Seward Memorial Library was completed by the Sampson team in 2003 and were welcomed back to renovate the lower level that would be open to the community.

The lower level renovation included 12,923 SF, in addition to 995 SF on the main level. A new dehumidification system was installed and tied into the existing system. The lower level finish work was a complex finish trim job including cherry wood on and around the stair stringers, bulkheads trimmed out in cherry and columns wrapped in cherry wood. A 13’9 x 18’ hole was cut into the center of the library for a new stair installation. The finish work included Italian tile on the main library stairs and glass tile designs in the new restrooms. There was no down-time for the library – most of the work was done in an occupied building.
