The UNL East Stadium is home of a 23,300 SF state-of-the-art athletic research space. Nebraska Athletic Performance Laboratory is used to study athletic performance and movement to improve training techniques. Sports to be studied include track and field Events, weight training, football, basketball, volleyball and baseball.

The facility is located in the northern half of the East Stadium on lower and upper shell spaces. Athletic facilities include: a two-lane track, field turf, a batting cage, a basketball hoop, weightlifting platforms, office spaces, wet lab, ceiling mounted cameras, force plates in the floor, and access flooring. Unique features included force plates with an access floor and a bridge between the Athletic Performance Lab and the Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior, overlooking the concourse area. The project also included Astroturf installation.
