National Arbor Day Foundation

Founded in 1972, the National Arbor Day Foundation headquarters is located downtown in Lincoln’s business district. Construction was completed August 2006 while occupied.

This project began with the 24,000 SF renovation of an existing movie theater below the National Arbor Day office into office and shell space for future retail. The office area includes a new entry, reception area, conference room, offices and a mail room. Fill material was brought into the building to level out the sloped theatre floor. Our team worked closely with the Owner to coordinate utility work, demolition and asbestos abatement in order to allow the National Arbor Day staff to continue working in the office space above the old theater. Care was also taken to not affect the adjacent all-brick building structure while maintaining the fire rating on the steel structure of the National Arbor Day building. In true Arbor Day form, a tree was planted inside the building and additional support was added to the existing structure for a future roof garden patio. As part of a site scape project done for the City of Lincoln, distinguishing components featuring leaf pattern cut-out metal panels and leaf imprinted stamped concrete continue the theme just outside of the headquarters/Arbor Day building.
