McDaid Elementary School & Athletic Center

North Platte Catholic School’s Campaign 2000 was very successful in raising funds to build a new elementary school and continuing a faith centered Catholic education for students.

The new McDaid Elementary and athletic center covers 47,000 SF. This combined facility is a two-story structure with chapel, classrooms, media center, hydraulic elevator, kitchen facility, athletic locker areas, gymnasium with retractable basketball goal, multiple courts, bleachers and divider curtain. The competition gymnasium and locker facilities are used by the students and faculty of the adjacent St. Patrick High School. One of the many unique attributes of the elementary school is the beautiful chapel with the stained glass windows created from the students’ designs. The chapel will seat approximately 80 and when the sliding wall between the chapel and commons area is moved, there is space for the entire student body of 250 to gather for weekly mass.
