Hastings Middle School

The 135,000 SF Hastings Middle School was designed using a pod system, which was reflected in the construction of this facility. The learning environment for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders is separate from other grades while only sharing commons areas.

The Hastings Middle Schools exterior shell is constructed of precast concrete. The middle school pod system is where the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders carry out curriculum separate from the other grades, while sharing the common classes and areas, such as music, physical education, cafeteria, and industrial arts learning in the core of the building. The school has two gymnasiums separated by locker rooms. The locker space is concrete masonry unit construction, one of two such spaces in the building that are designated storm shelters for all students and faculty. The Hastings Middle School's exterior shell is constructed of precast concrete.
