Fort Carson Railroad Expansion

Since 2005, the post has expanded to accommodate more 4th Infantry Division troops from Ft. Hood returning from Operation Iraqi Freedom. This new expansion at Fort Caron requires new capacity and upgrades from the rail yard on the north side of the fort.

This project will include laying 3.25 miles of new track, an expansion to the existing rail operations building, high mast lighting for the rail yard, and demolition of an existing warehouse. Supporting infrastructure includes paving, drainage, utility relocations, building area lighting, and other civil site items. While most of the work will be inside the gates of Ft. Carson, there will be culvert work and a pedestrian bridge that expands into the nearby Stratmoor neighborhood.
