Buffalo Hills Elementary

The Buffalo Hills Elementary School in Kearney, Nebraska was an educational addition for the growing community. This elementary school was part of a $45 million bond that voters approved in the fall of 2009.

On March 22, 2011, ground broke on the 7.67 acre site. This two-unit 46,111 SF school includes common spaces that can be reconstructed into classrooms to accommodate future growth for the elementary school. The structure included continuous grade beam footings with interior steel beams and columns, and concrete masonry unit walls. The new gymnasium received athletic wood flooring with acoustical panels and gypsum wallboard ceilings. This site also features ground source geothermal wells with heat pumps. The school opened in time for the 2012-2013 school year, as scheduled.
